What I'm Reading

Am currently reading 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak. It's the story of a young orphan who steals books and her foster family, set in 1939 in Nazi Germany. Death is the story's narrator.

Sounds depressing? Well it's not. It's uplifting, moving and funny. It's been a worldwide bestseller and is also regarded as being suitable for teenagers as well as adults.

Have not reached halfway yet, but am really enjoying it. Recommended.

I'll have to check it out. Death is always the depressing tragic figure you would expect him to be - Woody Allen knew this, as shown in his "Death Knocks" - with its clutsy Death.

Did you finish "Any Human Heart"? Read it on holiday in Spain last week on your recommendation. Best book I've read in ages.

Nice to hear from you all.

I'm a big Woody Allen, but this is nothing like his work - so don't be put off! So far, Death's OK in this book....

Peter - yes I loved 'Any Human Heart' too. My wife Karen's currently reading it and she can't put it down
